The lampstand is made from American Cherry and utilises steam bending for it's final form. An elegant and timeless design it was commissioned by a client in Surrey. They asked for a contemporary piece of lighting and I was given free rein with the design. The shade uses Japanese Washi Paper with embedded gold and silver leaf for interest whether on or off.

My take on the traditional Japanese Andon Lamp, featuring hand cut Jigumi and Tortoise Kumiko. The lamp uses a gold and silver leaf washi paper to diffuse the light supplied from an amber tinted bulb. This version is designed as a floor standing model but I can produce the lamp in a range of sizes.
